A stop sign amid the journey for a service dog

Hello 2023 and goodbye 2022! I look forward to all that this new year will bring!

2023 didn't wait long to throw a stop sign to my journey for a service dog, this time in form of a housing issue. I have lived in a wonderful apartment for a little over 18 months and planed on staying here for as long as the Lord allowed, however I was recently informed that I was misinformed when I moved into this apartment that unfortunately there is a 2 year limit to living in this exact apartment building. This would mean that by the end of June, I would need to move on to another living arrangement:( While I was really disappointed in the lack of communication to me on this important factor, I was glad that I had several months to now find a new living arrangement.

All along this journey, I have had some speed bumps that have caused things to slow down, but this new information was looking more like a stop sign to me since I would NEVER receive a dog knowing that my housing situation wasn't secure for at least a year! It isn't fair to a dog nor is it acceptable to most organizations that you don't have secure housing for at least a year!

While I didn't want to admit that it was best for me to stop the journey for a service dog until I could get my housing arrangement figured out, I knew in my heart that it was the best decision. I came to look at this housing situation as not a final farewell to my journey, but rather a stop sign since at stop signs you don't park your car there, but rather stop and then continue driving. I WILL continue on in my journey for a service dog in a few months!

Thank you to everyone for continuing to donate, spread the word, encourage me, and stick with me along this journey for a service dog! I look forward to moving on from this stop sign and continuing on in my journey in a couple months:) Please check back for updates!
